The T. Mims Corp. Red, White & Kaboom festival at Lake Mirror took place last night, Friday, July 3, 2026.

Because this year marks the United States Semiquincentennial (America 250), Lakeland leaned heavily into the milestone theme to celebrate 250 years of American history. An estimated 50,000 people filled the Frances Langford Promenade.
Here is a recap of how the community marked the historic milestone:

America 250 Highlights & Events
- The America 250 Presentation: At 6:50 PM, the city hosted a special community presentation dedicated to America’s 250th anniversary, featuring the dedication of an America 250 statue.
- The Music: The local youth singing group, The Sing Out Crew, kicked things off with a patriotic set and the National Anthem. Afterward, local alt-rock cover band Bully For You made its festival debut, playing three high-energy sets.
- The Grand Finale: At 9:00 PM, the celebration culminated in a spectacular, 18-minute professional pyrotechnic display over Lake Mirror, perfectly synchronized to a patriotic soundtrack.

A Massive Night for Downtown
Because the festival coincided with downtown Lakeland’s First Friday, the city was incredibly lively. Beyond the 14 local food trucks lined up at the Magnolia Building parking lot, Catapult hosted a Maker’s Market in its parking lot, and nearby spots like Swan Brewing had live music for spectators watching the fireworks from a distance.

Giving Back
True to the event’s 23-year tradition, admission remained free, but attendees were asked to bring canned non-perishable food items. Thousands of items were collected by volunteers to stock the pantry boxes for Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE), helping local seniors across Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry, and Fort Meade.
Why July 3rd? Lakeland traditionally hosts Red, White & Kaboom a day early so it doesn’t compete with the July 4th fireworks happening tonight at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium following the Lakeland Flying Tigers game!
