Anastasios “Stasi” Kamoutsas officially took office as Polk State College’s sixth president today (July 6, 2026), moving over from his previous role as Florida’s Education Commissioner.
The structure of his 5-year contract breaks down into a base pay bump from his state commissioner salary ($330,469) alongside a tiered bonus structure:
Compensation Breakdown
| Component | Details |
| Base Salary | $375,000 annually |
| Years 1 & 2 Bonuses | Up to $70,000 ($50,000 for meeting goals + $20,000 for exceeding them) |
| Years 3–5 Bonuses | Up to $95,000 ($75,000 for meeting goals + $20,000 for exceeding them) |
| Perks & Allowances | $30,000 annual automobile allowance |
The performance benchmarks will be mutually established by Kamoutsas and the Polk State District Board of Trustees. Totaling up the base salary, allowances, and maximum incentives, the contract is valued at up to $2.45 million over its 5-year lifespan (not including retirement contributions).
By comparison, former president Angela Falconetti was drawing a base salary of $310,247 when she stepped down earlier this year to transition to the University of North Florida.
$30000 annual automobile allowance? What kind of asshattery is this? That is $2500 per month to….do what with? That’s funny money and complete misuse of Polk State funds.
