Lakeland Commissioner Chad McLeod Steps Down After Two Terms

Chad McLeod was elected to the Lakeland City Commission (At-Large Seat 2) in November 2019 and re-elected to a second term in November 2023. During his tenure on the commission, his work focused on key municipal priorities, including:

  • Economic Development & Small Business Support: Emphasizing growth opportunities for local enterprises and downtown revitalization initiatives.
  • Public Safety & Infrastructure: Supporting investments in municipal emergency services, transportation planning, and local infrastructure improvements.
  • Housing & Regional Governance: Serving on local advisory boards, including the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and the Polk County Tourist Development Council.

“My intention from the beginning when I first came into office in 2019 was to serve two terms, then step aside so someone else could come in with a fresh perspective,” he said.
