Key Details of the Leadership Transition

  • Reason Withheld: The board declined to explain its decision, stating in a public release, “We don’t feel it’s right to share further details about the departure of anyone on our team, whether it’s a staff member or a volunteer helping with concessions.”
  • Timeline: Advisory board members were informed of the non-renewal in an August 4 letter, with the departure taking effect in late July. The board noted it offered to meet with Reynolds to discuss the transition, but he declined. Reynolds also declined to comment publicly.
  • Interim Leadership: Maureen McGowan has stepped in as interim producing director. Originally hired by Reynolds in 2010, McGowan previously served as LCT’s education director for over a decade before stepping away in early 2023.
  • Upcoming Season: The staffing transition comes right as LCT launches its 41st season, opening with Company on September 11.

The board has not specified how long McGowan will remain in the interim role or when a search for a permanent successor will begin.
