Pt 3: Body cam footage after Ft Myers Mayor Anderson is accused of drugging a young man and soliciting sex from him.

The voters should be demanding his resignation. The officers should have arrested him.

By Ramona D Miller

A $300 ticket became a story.

Where is the reporting on THIS police report?

The report documents that a 21 year old man was found acting abnormally after going out for drinks. He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

While at the hospital, he alleged that the Mayor had offered him money in exchange for sexual acts.

A witness told officers the young man had said he was meeting the Mayor for drinks at 10 Twenty Five and later showed officers messages. The report says the contact was saved as “Mayor Anderson.”

Those are allegations documented by police. They are not social media gossip. Was the City Council made aware?

So again…

A $300 ticket gets airtime.

But an alleged DUI stop, dash cam footage, and a police report containing allegations this serious is swept under the rug?

Where is the SAME ENERGY?

Where is the investigation?

Where is the follow up?

What gets reported matters?

What does NOT get reported matters too?

The officers were asking questions that their investigative skills could answer, if they had them.

Something is wrong with our community and its leaders when you read the allegations from the victims and witnesses, read the mayor’s responses and see the lack of proper investigation into the allegations that were made and there is no community outrage, lack of questions , and no calls for his resignation or removal.

The elected officials that are supporting the mayor and have known for years about his behavior are also complicit in the abuse of these young people.

The lack of failure of a proper an objective, investigation that did not take place is alarming.

Everyone in this community should be asking for some accountability.

1. Where is the mayor’s statement?

2. Why wasn’t he interviewed?

3. Why wasn’t the video footage from the cameras inside 10-25 bar not taken for evidence and noted in the investigation?

4. Why did the officers turn off the audio on their body cams several times without justification? This action did not meet their policy guidelines to do so?

5. The body cam of the officers reveal the observation and discussion of text messages sexual in nature. Why then were those messages missing from public records?

6. Why was a sergeant called down to speak to the witnesses and not a sex crime detective from the department?

7. Were the attending physicians in the ER interviewed for their evaluations of the victim’s symptoms and were requests made by law enforcement for specific drugs to be tested for?

So many other concerns. What if your daughter or son made these allegations and this happened to them? All our young people deserve to be protected and respected. At the very bare minimum where is our community concern for very inappropriate behavior of this elected official and those supporting him? If these allegations were made against a regular unknown member of our community, a paraprofessional, a bus driver or teacher would the school district and its leaders not be calling for an investigation into any program involving that person? Have they done this with the mayor’s mentoring program?

Why was the mayor calling a principal to request information about a student at night?
