Zechariah 12: 3 “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, estimates of 73 U.N. delegates were not present or walked out as Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel, explained Israel’s position in their retaliation for the murderous acts of October 7, 2023, and Israel’s right to defend itself.
It would be interesting to note, representatives from over 120 countries did not walk out. Of the 193 member nations, 73 either walked out or were not present. Numbers vary by sources of information.
Jesus stated in Matthew 24: 9 “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” Would “all nations” in the first century have had a different meaning than today?
Obviously “all nations” did not walk out. Does this leave us with questions about Israel’s future? Perhaps Ezekiel 38 and 39 can add perspective.
The world witnessed the killing of Jews on October 7th, 2023, when at least 1200 people were killed in a cross-border attack seen as the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
Jews were killed by the Crusaders (1095-1291), the Spanish Inquisition (1478-1834), the Edict of Expulsion (England 1290), and the Holocaust in Germany in the 1940’s. The Romans killed an estimated two million Jews and burned Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Any way we carve this up, the Jews have been a persecuted people by the uninformed and ignorant. Their population has been dramatically reduced several times in their history.
Currently, there are around sixteen million Jews worldwide (with an unknown number unidentified) and over two billion Muslims. Numerous scriptural references compare the number of Jews to the stars in the skies and sands in the sea shores (Jeremiah 33: 2, Genesis 22: 17, Hebrews 11: 12). As we can see, prophecy does not always happen (or hasn’t happened yet) and Jewish numbers reinforce this.
The Bible states the Jews are a special people chosen by God to provide the world with a Savior. God established Abraham and his wife Sarah to be the father and mother of the Jews. Abraham and Hagar (Sarah’s servant) were to be the parents of the Arabic people.
We can’t help but speculate why God allowed Isaac and Ishmael to be born and father two completely different races which would be at war for 4000 years.
Could it have been so the Jews would have a race of people to persecute them to fulfill prophecy? Regardless of the explanations and opinions given, the reality exists and will not end until Jesus returns.
The UN delegates certainly made Matthew 24: 9 a case in point! We must keep in mind Jesus was talking to twelve Jewish men in that verse. Those were His disciples. Christians, being believer-followers of Jesus, are also disciples.
Amos 9: 8 “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the surface of the ground, except that I will NOT utterly destroy the house of Jacob, declares the Lord.”
God has verified time and again He will ultimately and eventually come to the aid of His chosen people and chosen nation. Ezekiel 34:13 “And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.”
Israel being in their chosen land, is also a fulfillment of prophesy. Having been exiled for over 1800 years from their homeland, they returned. Seeking a peaceful existence, the world would not allow that to happen.
Ezekiel 36: 19 “And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.” God promised through Ezekiel He would “scatter” the Jewish people “among the heathen.” And that He did after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Ezekiel 36: 24 “I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.” Another promise from God was to bring them back to Israel and He did beginning in the late 1880’s.
Israel was declared a nation once again May 14th, 1948. David Ben Gurion signed a proclamation declaring Israel a nation. This was another case of prophesy happening at the United Nations.
As we have seen in the lifetime of many of us, great numbers of Biblical prophesies have happened and are happening now. The disdain and disrespect shown to Prime Minister Netanyahu at the United Nations last week is one of many verifications of the accuracy of the Holy Bible.
God promised Abraham in the beginning of the establishment of the Jewish people that they would be blessed and be a blessing to the world.
Genesis 12: 3 “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” That blessing was and is the Savior of the world Christ Jesus.
The Bible teaches there is only one eternal salvation. That is by a faith based belief (Ephesians 2: 8) that Christ Jesus was crucified (Matthew 27: 35) for the remission of sin (Romans 4: 25), resurrected (Matthew 28: 6) and ascended alive into Heaven (Acts 1: 9).
Benjamin Netanyahu included at the end of his UN address: 1 Samuel 15: 29a “The Eternal one of Israel will not lie nor repent!”
