Wild US 92 Traffic Standoff Ends

A 43-year-old woman, Galena Ginene Golden, was arrested following a confrontation with a Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the middle of U.S. 92.

Incident Overview

  • Traffic Disruption: Around 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Golden stood directly in the active travel lanes of U.S. 92 in Polk County, forcing multiple drivers—including a semi-truck driver—to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting her.
  • The Standoff: A responding deputy pulled over and activated emergency lights to clear her from the road. Upon being approached, Golden yelled, “Do not ****** touch me!” and refused to produce identification, telling the deputy, “I am not going to talk to you,” before attempting to walk away down the highway.
  • Physical Altercation: When the deputy moved to physically block her from walking into oncoming danger, Golden grabbed and squeezed him, triggering a physical scuffle before she was subdued.

Following the struggle, Golden was taken into custody and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office processing center on felony and resisting-related charges.
