Incident Description
On Friday, July 19, 2019, the City of Lakeland was notified at 7:18 AM of a possible SSO at 2103 Sylvester Ct. Crews arrived on site at 7:30 and found a break in a 6? sanitary sewer force main. The pump station was shut down and crews set up a containment area to stop the flow of wastewater. The SSO was stopped at 7:45 AM. Vactor truck crews cleaned up the area and maintained levels in the pump station until the repair was completed at 11:00 AM and returned to normal operations. An estimated 500 gallons was spilled with 400 gallons recovered. An estimated 100 gallons made it into a drainage ditch which leads to Lake Bentley. Samples were collected and the area was cleaned up and wash down.
