Florida Southern College men’s tennis had singles success early but was unable to advance to the round of 16 at the ITA South Regional at West Florida on Friday. The Moccasins will continue with ITA South Regional action today in Pensacola.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The singles bracket saw round of 64 wins from Valentin Hertweck over Anton Loff from West Alabama (7-5, 6-0), Brandon Pham over Florian Simbozel from Valdosta St. (3-6, 6-4, 10-3) and Erik Nordblom over Bruno Medeiros from Lee (3-6, 6-3, 10-6). The momentum halted for the Mocs there as Hertweck dropped a three-set thriller to Ghali Mensour from Saint Leo (6-4, 1-6, 10-6), Pham dropped a 7-6, 6-2 contest to Andres Donayre from Embry-Riddle and Nordblom dropped a 6-4, 6-3 contest to Lucca Baptista of Lynn. Oscar Sohl fell in his opening match 6-1, 6-3 to Willem van den Akker of Saint Leo.
- In doubles action, Pablo Salamanca and Brian Pham fell in a close, 8-7 contest to Cizek and Etty of Valdosta St. while Chase Martin and Miroslav Cvjetan dropped an 8-4 match to Bojedjiev and Svensson from host institution West Florida.

- The Moccasins will continue with ITA South Regional play today with singles consolation action for Sohl and doubles consolation action for the pairings of Salamanca/Pham and Martin/Cvjetan
