Playing Eastern Florida in Melbourne, Polk State held the No. 3 Titans to one goal tonight but were shut out 1-0.
After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, Eastern Florida scored in the 48th minute off a loose ball in the box.
The Eagles took four shots and made eight goalkeeper saves. The Titans attempted 20 shots and tallied two saves.
In their last two games, the Eagles have allowed only one goal.
“Defensively we are starting to put things together, which should allow us to see a more offensive attack going into the second half of regional play,” said Head Coach Steve Linamen.
The Eagles (0-4-1) return to action Saturday when they face Daytona State (3-2, No. 14 NJCAA) a 4 p.m. in Lakeland.
