The Florida Southern women’s golf team is currently ranked sixth in the nation in the latest Golfweek Division II Poll, with four individuals ranked in the Top 100.
The University of Indianapolis is ranked No. 1 in the poll, which includes events through October 15, 2019. Findlay is ranked second, followed by Nova Southeastern, Lynn, Barry, then Florida Southern.
As a team, the Mocs won the 2019 Saint Leo Invitational, winning by seven strokes. It was the first win of the season for FSC, after finishing in second place at both the Lady Falcon Invitational and the Battle at Old South, and third at the Golfweek DII Fall Invite.
Individually, Loren Perez is one of four Mocs who are ranked in the Top 100. Perez leads the team, and is ranked as the 12th best golfer in the land. The sophomore just claimed medalist honors at the 2019 Saint Leo Invitational, as she shot even par over the two day event, held at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City. Her adjusted score average to date is 72.86.
Ranked 32nd nationally is senior Amanda Gartrell, with an adjusted score average of 73.75, followed in 33rd by freshman Lacey Tucker. Tucker’s adjusted score average is 74.31.
Freshman Sun Hwang is the fourth Mocs golfer in the rankings, at 97th place, with an adjusted score average of 76.76.
Florida Southern continues the fall season at the Rollins College Legends Tournament on October 28-29, at the Country Club of Orlando.
