Polk State’s 20-game winning streak ended last night with an 0-3 non-conference road loss to Florida State College at Jacksonville.
The Eagles played without Manuela Ibarguen (ankle injury), who leads the team in kills and kills per set. And while Keren Souza did play, she struggled with a fever and throat infection.
“Having Manuela injured and Keren sick did not help us,” said Head Coach German Del Valle. But we win or lose as a team, and today we lost as a team. I have to keep my head up and support our players as we continue our journey.”
That journey continues Nov. 1 when the Eagles (20-1, No. 1 FCSAA/NJCAA), who won the Mid-Florida Conference championship for the second straight year, advance to the NJCAA Region/FCSAA State Volleyball Tournament in Jacksonville.
