With a 54-27 win at Faulkner in its regular season finale, the Southeastern University football team moved up two spots in the NAIA Top 25 released this afternoon.
The Fire moved up to 14th in the penultimate version of the poll voted on by a panel of head coaches across the country.
Southeastern finished the regular season with a program-best 8-1 record, and are one of just 11 teams with one loss or less in the NAIA.
On Sunday, the 16 qualifiers for the NAIA Football Championship Series will be revealed. All conference champions that are ranked in the Top 20 will automatically qualify with the final spots filed by the next highest ranked teams.
Morningside remains first with a 9-0 record and will travel to No. 5 Northwestern on Saturday. Other games of interest include No. 7 Lindsey Wilson traveling to No. 8 Cumberlands for the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass title and No. 12 Concordia, which would be the last at-large team in the playoff field as of now, playing host to Indiana Wesleyan.
