Southeastern University junior forward Taylah Simmons was named The Sun Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in Saturday’s road victory.
Simmons had the second-highest scoring game of her career with 33 points in a 91-35 victory over Florida Memorial. The Melbourne, Australia native also pulled down five rebounds, dished out four assists, and helped out on defense with seven steals.
Simmons has at least 20 points in six of her last seven games. Additionally, Simmons has had at least 22 points in all six Sun Conference games for the second-ranked Fire.
Nationally, Simmons is second in NAIA Division II in points per game at 22.1, and is ninth in field goal percentage at 57.4%.
The Fire are 14-2 overall and 6-0 in Sun Conference play and face third-place Johnson & wales on Thursday in North Miami at 5:30 p.m.
