ESPN has announced the first batch of games for this year’s High School Football Showcase, and Lake Gibson High will get the starting nod!
The Braves will travel to Valdosta, Ga. to face Lowndes High for the Week 1 matchup. The Sept. 3 game airs at 8 p.m., live on ESPNU. ESPN’s press release had this to say about the Braves: “Lake Gibson had a successful 2020 season, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Florida 6A playoffs. No. 30 senior Sam McCall – ATH (FSU commit) and No. 5 junior Cormani McClain – CB provide athleticism on both sides of the ball.
“According to local sources (PolkWay 863), this is the first time a Polk team has played on ESPN since Lakeland High in 2009.
