Incident Description
The City of Lakeland was notified on November 4, 2021 at 4:30AM of a manhole overflowing at the intersection of Laguna Dr. and Kathryn Ave. When the emergency crew was dispatched, an additional vactor truck crew was called in as well. Crews located a blockage in a main line and proceeded to remove the blockage. The SSO was stopped at 8:15AM with an estimated 3,500 gallons released and approximately 2,000 gallons was recovered. The remaining 1,500 gallons entered the Parker Canal which flows into Lake Parker. The area was washed down, and lime applied. Samples will be collected from the Canal and Lake Parker to determine any public health concerns or environmental impact.
