Skeates is the Interim President & CEO of the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce where he worked before as the President & CEO Jan 2007 – Dec 2014, Nov 2021 – Present
The Lakeland Gazette is wondering what really happen at the Lakeland Chamber of Chamber because no one is talking about it?
On Oct 29, 2021 According to Will Link, chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, “Following multiple conversations between Skeates and leaders from the Executive Committee related to fully realizing the Lakeland Chamber’s mission and vision, Skeates chose to tender his resignation to allow a change in leadership in the best interest of the chamber.”
So what was the real issue?
Excerpt from Skeates letter, “I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the businesses of Lakeland and sharing my vision for what chambers of the future must do to remain relevant while continuing to focus on their mission.”
So it seems that Skeates and the Lakeland Executive Committee could not agree on a mission and vision for the Chamber, or did Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce offer him the Interim President & CEO before he left Lakeland?
