Firefighters responded to a structure fire this morning at approximately 9:10 AM located at 1028 N New York Ave. The first units to arrive on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the single-story residential home. Three residents were inside the home when the fire started, but all had evacuated prior to #LFD arrival. One resident was transported to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
Responding to the fire scene included 6 LFD units, Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) medic unit, and multiple Lakeland Police Department units. No #firefighter injuries were reported.
Lakeland Fire Prevention is investigating the cause of the fire, however, there is no update at this time. American Red Cross was contacted for disaster relief and recovery services.
