The developer has also offered to increase the total number of parking spaces from the original 356 to 368. That’s approximately 1.75 spaces per apartment. It will also offer 48 spaces for bike parking, of which 16 are covered. -The Ledger.
Bike parking! Just what the residents need at the City limits on the county road of Lk. Miriam in South Lakeland. Imagine riding your bike down Lk Miriam, separated from traffic by a curb, and navigating to cross the street on busy S. Florida Ave. intersection.
Would you feel comfortable walking or riding your bike to the downtown amenities like the First Friday evening event, or the Downtown Farmer’s Market? How about taking your friend on their bikes to the RP Funding Center events. Bus service is not available on weekend nights. Speaking of bus service, the riders typically earn less than $22/hour. The ridership at Lk Miriam pick up now is less than 5 people every half hour pick up (compared to 15,900 car trips on Lk Miriam Drive EVERY DAY.) Wouldn’t people spending $1300-2000/month need a car to get to work? And so would their mate who is needed to share the cost.
Tell your commissioners to REJECT/ DENY this zoning change for the incompatible and ridiculous plan for Lakelanders who do not wish to be home-bound for lack of transportation and no place to park their cars.
