If you see an ear-tipped cat, LEAVE IT BE. Do not catch it and take it to animal control. Ear tips do not fair well at Polk Animal Control.
Even if it’s friendly, which some ear tips are, they are usually euthanized as “feral and not adoptable”.
Please don’t trap them to surrender. PLEASE, JUST LEAVE THEM BE. TNR Works.

Thank you for standing up for them because it’s not their fault that they’re living out on the streets. They are living out on the streets because people think that kittens are cute and they get one and then they lose interest and they just throw it out the door. I have tamed many wild cats in my lifetime and took them in and they are wonderful they just have to learn to trust people and I understand why they don’t. Once they’re tamed and loved on you fall in love with them immediately. Please leave them alone if you’re not gonna help and surrendering them it’s not helping it’s just a death sentence. Until people are made to be responsible for their animals this will never stop. It’s people that caused the problem.
The Sheriff’s comment is wrong as we all know. I’ve lost all respect and support for him. I’d would say more, but Grady will go after you just on a grudge. We’ve seen that too.

I find it revolting that the sheriff here in Polk County is so disgustingly involved in killing cats. Seems to me that he has plenty of other issues to deal with!

He said that if you bring them ( feral cats) to the shelter, they are deemed unadoptable and are euthanized. He didn’t say he’s killing cats!
Basically he’s telling you leave them alone so that doesn’t happen!
The best thing you can do is trap, spay/neuter then release back into wild. They survive.

He’s doing the right thing for bringing this to everyone’s attention a lot of people don’t know or understand why they have half a ear. TNR is the best thing to happen for these cat’s, leave them alone, he didn’t say anything about killing cat’s unless I missed something in the article, I’ll go back and read it again, But TNR is the best service you can do for a feral cat trap noodle and release they’re not only do in the surgery they’re given them rabies shots fleet medicine fixing their wounds and Is worming them and then we release them back to Where they were caught it is the best thing for The economy Stop the spread of diseases and heaven babies them back to where we caught them

TNR works as long as you’re not a rabbit or bird. What is wrong with you? Only animals you care about are cats.
You do understand about the food chain, or circle of life, right? If cats and other animals didn’t kill and eat birds and mice and other small critters, the world would be overrun with them.. this is mother nature.. cats of all sizes keep the birds if all sizes, and the nice and eats of all sizes, under control…

e. Don’t take it to Humane Soc. or animal control, bc they will kill it. What do you find so reprehensible?? We have several ladies in our county who do and say the same thing. It is better for them, unless you take them in and try to be loved, but it rarely works.
It’s not just Polk county in Florida, as fort Meyers Florida does the same crap. They won’t even show them as adoptable cats. They put them down straight away. I’ve had my go around with them over this same issue for years. Thank you for drawing attention to the situation.
You people kill me, all he said was do not overwhelm the Animal Control by bringing them in. Maybe y’all should add roughage to your diet and thicken your skin. A cat is a predator and does just fine on its own, if you are kind enough to help feed it, great job, but nowhere did he say kill them!

Donot take cats and kitten to pound, they kill them.i am sure each country in fl has enough money to have them fixed.thus No more kittens and cats. If it sick put it to sleep if is fatal. You would think this is a game of “whisper down the lane”. The Sheriff never said he would kill cats. What he said is don’t take them to a shelter as they will be euthanized. This is how rumors and untruths get spread. Take the time to really READ what the sheriff said instead of assuming.
The sheriff is a bird guy and does not like cats, period! He has said “kill them all” in may different times about cats
Seems that some people have read into Sheriff Judd’s statement what they wanted to hear, not what was said. I suggest his statement be reread without prejudice!

Well he never said that. As a matter of fact he loves all animals. Apparently none of you know how to do your own research. This header is extremely misleading.
Judd does not like cats. Animal control which Judd runs kills more cats than any other county in the state of Florida then sells the dead cats.
So I take it all of you will be lined up at the shelter in the morning to save / adopt every cat and kitten in the place and every day from now on, correct? Or are you just blowing smoke with words and don’t take action? Blame others and become part of the problem instead of doing something and becoming part of the solution.
