The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Westchester Knick at the RP Funding Center. Trevor Keels fired off a team-high 24 points, Melvin Frazier Jr. had 19 points and six rebounds and Dmytro Skapinstev added a double-double off the bench with 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Westchester Knicks defeated the Lakeland Magic 114-113.
Jay Scrubb had a game-high 29 points while Aleem Ford scored 28 and Zavier Simpson had a near triple-double collecting 17 points, 15 assists, and nine rebounds for the Magic.
The two clubs would battle back and forth after the Knicks started the game with a seven-to-zero run. There would be a total of 40 lead changes throughout the game. The Knicks held the largest lead of the game after a 10-0 run from late in the third through the early fourth at 86-77.
Lakeland would outscore Westchester in the fourth 36-31. After a rebound by Zavier Simpson the Magic had a chance to win the game with just under five seconds on the clock, unfortunately, the Magic would not get a shot off before the clock read zero.
The Lakeland Magic (9-7) will face the Mexico City Capitanes, on Sunday, February 5 in Lakeland at 3:00 PM on NBA TV.
