Behind the Bar with The Twisted Mixer: Paloma

Guests often ask for something “not too sweet” which can be a challenge in the cocktail industry. Most popular cocktails contain 10-25 grams of sugar. This is not good if you are watching your sugar intake but can also make for a less-than-fun experience the next day. Refreshing grapefruit juice is the star of this cocktail and offers up a little boost of vitamin C. And for those who prefer a sweeter version add a splash of grenadine or simple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2-ounce lime juice or sour mix
  • 1-ounce chilled club soda
  • 1-ounce lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite)
  • 1 lime wheel to garnish

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the grapefruit juice, tequila and lime juice and shake what ya mama gave ya. Strain into an ice-filled highball glass, top with the club soda, Sprite and give a little stir. Garnish with the lime wedge.
