Oh HAPPY DAY! Today we wished our grumpy but lovable senior cat, Sampson, good luck in his new home. He has been patiently waiting for his special someone for nearly two years and today was the day! He was adopted by Karlo Cotney of Lakeland at the Kitty Cat Lounge. He and his daughter, August, came for a visit and instantly fell in love with Sampson. They filled out an application and then came to visit him twice more prior to the adoption.
A little back story on Sampson. We rescued him in April, 2022, from Saddle Creek Campground. He was completely covered in scabies from his nose to the tip of his tail. We were tagged in a FB post and set off to find him at the campground. When we asked where to find the scabies cat, everyone pointed to this absolutely pitiful cat who was crouched down on a bench. Everyone knew of him but would not help this poor soul. Besides the scabies infestation, he was quite emaciated and starving. We opened the carrier door and he climbed right inside and immediately gobbled down a can of food.
After getting him back to the shelter, Revolution Plus was applied to start the process of killing the scabies parasite. He was taken to the vet for an exam and an antibiotic injection. We began massaging coconut oil into his coat and combing off his crusty fur. It took at least one month to rid Sampson of the scabies and then the healing process could begin. He was completely void of fur and his skin was bright red from the inflammation. We didn’t even know his fur color and were pleasantly surprised to discover he was solid white once his fur grew back.
It was a long road to good health but Sampson is now one very handsome fellow.
He had only been home for a short time when August began sending us pictures and updates. Sampson has already taken to Karlo following him around the house and even waiting for him to come out of the bathroom. Lol! We are so happy for Sampson and Karlo. We have no doubt he will be spoiled to the max. We will definitely miss him and so will many others who have visited him at the cat cafe.
