Incident Description
Due to flooding associated with Hurricane Milton, the City of Lakeland had a SSO event at the intersection of W Lake Parker Dr and Bella Vista Street at 9:00 AM on October 12, 2024, which flowed into Lake Parker. Lake levels increased and flooded portions our gravity sewer system causing the collection system to be overwhelmed. Crews worked to remove water from the system and had the event stopped at 4:30PM that same day. More than 1,000 gallons was spilled with no recovery. Samples will be collected and the Lake will be posted. No clean up actions were able to be performed at the time due to lake levels.
