Meet Steve Cole, a dedicated Solid Waste driver for the City of Lakeland, and Elijah, one of his biggest fans.
Every week, young Elijah eagerly waits by the curb to see his favorite garbage truck rumble down the street. It’s not just trash day for Elijah—it’s the highlight of his week. Elijah’s fascination with garbage trucks has turned into a heartwarming friendship with Steve, who always takes a moment to wave and brighten Elijah’s day.
This holiday season, Elijah’s Christmas wish came true in the most magical way. Thanks to Steve and the Solid Waste team, Elijah got the chance to ride in one of the iconic green garbage trucks, sitting right beside his hero. It was an unforgettable experience for Elijah and a testament to the joy and community spirit shared by our Lakeland team.
Steve Cole’s kindness and the bond he shares with Elijah remind us all of the impact small moments can have in building connections within our community.
