The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council successfully hosted its annual Lakeland Soaring Eagle Award Dinner on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at Bonnet Springs Park Event Center, raising in excess of $90,000 to support local Scouting programs. The event brought together community members, business leaders, and Scouting families for an evening of celebration as we recognized Greg Ruthven’s impact and contributions to the community with the Soaring Eagle Award. The Soaring Eagle Award recognizes a community leader that exemplifies the values taught by Scouting, such as service to the community, good citizenship, outstanding moral fiber and strong leadership.
The funds raised from this event will directly benefit youth in Polk County, providing them with opportunities to develop leadership skills, experience outdoor adventures, and give back to their communities through service projects.
Event highlights included Bill Tinsley as the master of ceremonies and a proclamation issued by Mayor Bill Mutz. The generosity of our sponsors, donors, and attendees ensures that Scouting remains accessible to all youth who wish to participate.
