A man in the country illegally and wanted on aggravated stalking and aggravated assault charges was arrested Tuesday night in Lakeland after a traffic stop revealed he was also driving under the influence.
Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Lopez spotted 37-year-old Hector Gonzalez-Reyes driving a blue Ford F-150 around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th. Knowing that Gonzalez-Reyes was wanted, the deputy conducted a traffic stop on Cherry Tree Drive.
Upon speaking with Gonzalez-Reyes, Deputy Lopez detected the smell of alcohol on his breath and observed that his eyes were red and watery. Gonzalez-Reyes admitted to consuming 4-5 Stella Artois beers.
He was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail, where he provided breath samples that registered at 0.198, 0.221, and 0.216, significantly above the legal limit of 0.08.
Gonzalez-Reyes was charged with aggravated stalking, aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license, and DUI. Additionally, an ICE hold has been placed on him as he is in the United States illegally from Mexico.
