Two people were arrested on Wednesday after being accused of leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
The incident began just before midnight on Tuesday, after Lakeland PD and Polk Troopers located a stolen Toyota Tundra through a FLOCK Safety hit in Polk County
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pursuit of the Toyota ensued, which they were requested to take over by the Lakeland PD after the vehicle managed to leave the city.
FHP troopers said they followed the vehicle on US-92, requesting assistance from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit.
FHP reported that the Toyota drove west on Fletcher Avenue toward State Road 659. Troopers said the vehicle was turning south on Combee Road when they observed the driver lose control.
According to FHP, this caused the vehicle to slow down, allowing a trooper to make contact with the vehicle, which resulted in the Toyota overturning.
The Lakeland Police Department and Polk County Sheriff’s Office discovered a driver and a passenger inside the vehicle. EMS evaluated both individuals before they were taken and booked into the Polk County Jail.
