Alfredo Casanova, previously arrested for stealing black swans and their eggs, is now a “Warrant of the Day” after failing to appear in court.
Authorities are once again searching for Alfredo Casanova, a 30-year-old Homestead resident, after failing to appear in court.
Casanova was previously arrested in February by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Agriculture Crimes Unit for the theft of two black swans and their eggs from a community in South Lakeland.
Casanova, along with an accomplice, Jordan Montoya, traveled from the Miami area to commit the unique heist. PCSO detectives successfully identified and apprehended the duo, safely returning the valuable swans and their eggs to their rightful owners. Both men were charged with Burglary and Grand Theft.
However, Casanova now appears to be a flight risk. His failure to appear in court has resulted in a new warrant for his arrest, prompting the PCSO to highlight him as their “Warrant Of The Day.”
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office quipped on X, “No swans are safe as long as Alfredo is a free bird. Thefts of swans and eggs are obviously his cygnet-ure crime.”
Alfredo Casanova is known to frequent the Miami-Dade and Broward County areas. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact them at 863-298-6200 or email [email protected].
