“Florida is Our Home”: Republican Investor James Fishback Announces Florida Governor Campaign to Challenge Byron Donalds
Today, Republican investor James Fishback of Madison, FL, officially filed as a candidate for the 2026 Florida gubernatorial campaign. “I’m running for Florida Governor to make life more affordable for you and your family,” says Fishback. “Hardworking Floridians should be able to buy a home, raise a family, and retire with dignity.”
Fishback’s bold affordability platform includes:
- Stopping the replacement of American workers with H-1B foreigners, so Floridians— especially our recent grads—can get great-paying jobs again.
- Telling Blackstone, Airbnb, and foreign speculators to stop buying up our neighborhoods because in Florida, our homes are for families.
- Blocking the construction of AI Data Centers that would threaten our water supply and raise our electric bills.
- Abolishing property taxes for all Florida residents’ homesteaded properties—because in America, you don’t rent your home from the government; you own it free and clear.
In 2025, Americans know that “Not all Republicans are the same.” In Fishback’s campaign launch video, he criticizes primary opponent Byron Donalds for supporting H-1B visas, urging the construction of AI data centers across Florida, and making millions of dollars trading stocks in Congress.
“Congressman Byron Donalds can’t be our next governor because he won’t fight for Florida,” says Fishback. “I will. I’ll fight to preserve Governor DeSantis’ wins by keeping Florida free from DEI, radical transgenderism, Soros-backed prosecutors, child predators, voter fraud, and the millions of illegals who invaded our country on Kamala Harris’ watch.”
A fourth-generation Floridian and anti-establishment political outsider, Fishback rose to prominence as an investor who stood up to Wall Street, sued the Federal Reserve, and filed a landmark brief with the U.S. Supreme Court defending President Trump’s right to fire corrupt officials. Fishback is the founder and CEO of investment firm Azoria and Incubate Debate, a free high school debate league he started in Miami, FL in 2019 that has hosted in-person debate tournaments for thousands of students throughout Florida, including most recently at Jacksonville University last month.
“In the coming months, I’m going to meet as many Floridians as I can, where they live, work, and pray,” Fishback says of his campaign plans. “I’ll visit all 67 counties because Florida’s next governor has to be someone you can see, talk to, and even debate with.”
Fishback’s campaign announcement concludes with a defiant message to the entrenched political establishment and powerful special interests that seek to exploit our state: “Florida is our home. America is our birthright. And we will never let them steal it from us.”
