City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division to Begin Sewer Main Rehabilitation Along Lake Hollingsworth Drive

WHO: City of Lakeland Water Utilities – Wastewater Collection Division and contracted crews
WHAT: Sewer main rehabilitation using trenchless lining, including cleaning and inspection
WHEN: Beginning Wednesday, February 4, 2026, with follow-up work in the coming weeks
WHERE: Lake Hollingsworth Drive between Palmola Street and Mississippi Avenue
WHY:
To restore aging sewer mains and extend their service life

The City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division will begin urgent sewer main rehabilitation work along the north and west side of Lake Hollingsworth Drive between Palmola Street and Mississippi Avenue. This work is being performed to address deteriorated sewer mains and extend their service life for decades to come.

Crews will initially be on site beginning Wednesday, February 4, 2026, to clean, televise, and measure the sewer mains in preparation for the rehabilitation process. It is anticipated that this rehabilitation will be accomplished using a trenchless lining method that does not require excavation of the sewer main. Once liners are received, lining crews will return to complete the rehabilitation work, which is expected within the next one to two weeks, depending on material lead times.

This work will take place during daytime hours, and once crews complete work each day, the roadway will be reopened to normal traffic flow.

During this project, traffic on Lake Hollingsworth Drive within the work area will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing motorists safely through the work zone.

The City of Lakeland appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this essential infrastructure improvement is completed.
