Blast off! The LEGO Galaxy expansion and its crown jewel, the Galacticoaster, officially launched at LEGOLAND Florida Resort. This marks a massive milestone for the park as its first-ever indoor family coaster.
The attraction is part of a major investment by Merlin Entertainments, replacing the former Flying School coaster with a high-tech, space-themed experience that focuses on personalization and “play.”
🚀 The Galacticoaster Experience
The ride is being hailed as “Cosmic Rewind for kids,” blending physical coaster thrills with digital interactivity.
- Custom Spacecraft: Before boarding, you use interactive touchscreens to design your own LEGO spaceship (choosing the nose, tail, wings, and special features). With over 625 combinations, your specific creation is tracked via RFID and “appears” during the ride.
- The Mission: You are recruited to “Spaceport 885” (a tribute to the classic 1979 Space Scooter set) by Chief Engineer Biff Dipper—the park’s first-ever large-scale animatronic LEGO Minifigure.
- Ride Stats:
- Top Speed: 40 mph.
- Height Requirement: 36″ to ride with an adult; 48″ to ride alone.
- Technology: Features rotating ride vehicles and synchronized lighting/projections.
This expansion represents one of the largest investments in LEGOLAND Florida’s history. By moving the experience indoors, the park now offers a major all-weather attraction, providing a much-needed air-conditioned escape from the Florida sun (and those inevitable afternoon thunderstorms).
