Man accused of stealing cigarettes from gas station tells deputies ‘I’m God’

A Florida man accused of stealing two packs of cigarettes from a convenience store while “stoned to the gills with mushrooms” allegedly told deputies that “he was God”.

The incident involved 18-year-old Tyler Voisard of Davenport, who was arrested on March 4, 2026—which happened to be his 18th birthday. According to Sheriff Grady Judd, the situation began at a 7-Eleven where Voisard allegedly stole two packs of cigarettes (valued at $19.62).

When deputies arrived, things took a surreal turn. Sheriff Judd reported that Voisard was “stoned to the gills on mushrooms” and told the responding deputies:

“I’m God, and I’m leaving here in two seconds.”

He then attempted to run away, but as Judd noted in his typical fashion, “God didn’t run from anybody, but if you’re messed up on mushrooms, I can see why you would think you were God.”

Key Details of the Case:

  • Location: Davenport, FL (Polk County).
  • Charges: Burglary of an occupied structure, petit theft, resisting an officer without violence, and possession of methamphetamine (which deputies say they found in his sock at the jail).
  • The “Birthday” Twist: Because he had just turned 18, he was booked into the Polk County Jail as an adult.

Voisard remains in the Polk County Jail, online records show.
