Polk County Board of County Commissioners recently approved a pilot project for a new Customer Convenience Center at the Northeast Landfill to address the ongoing illegal dumping issues in the Haines City and Poinciana areas.

The site is scheduled to open officially on June 1, 2026. Here are the key details if you or someone you know needs to use it:

Location & Hours

  • Address: 4001 Bannon Island Road, Haines City (at the existing Northeast Landfill site).
  • Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Disposal Fees

  • Standard Vehicles (Cars, SUVs, Pickups): $10
  • Trailers (under 6 ft): $18
  • Trailers (6 to 16 ft): $27
  • Tires: $5 each

Important Rules

  • Proof of Residency: You must show a valid ID or proof of residency in Polk County.
  • Payment: This is a cashless facility. They only accept credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, or other “tap to pay” methods.
  • Residential Use Only: No commercial vehicles or automated dump trailers are allowed.

The county is hoping this makes it easier for residents to dispose of bulk items, yard waste, and construction debris properly rather than leaving them on the roadside.
