Did you know that based on the most recent data from the 2025 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, 17.5 veterans committed suicide on average in 2023, with 550 Veterans dying by suicide in Florida last year?
2026 annual totals are not yet finalized; however, the Florida Governor’s Challenge and state agencies are actively implementing evidence-based strategies to reduce these rates among the state’s 1.4 million veterans.
The state had provided these immediate help resources to aide all veterans;
Veterans Crisis Line: Dial 988 then press 1, text 838255, or chat online at VeteransCrisisLine.net.
Florida Veterans Support Line: Call1-844-MyFLVet (693-5838) for confidential support and connection to community resources.
For an emergency situation: Go to the nearest VA medical center, or emergency room; care is available regardless of enrollment status or discharge type.
Prevention and Support Florida state initiatives like the Florida Veterans Support Line, and the Watch Stander program aim to connect veterans with care through community partnerships. Other organizations such as Florida4Warriors and the NicTilliman Foundation provide peer support, mental health awareness, and community building to address the stigma surrounding mental health and PTSD.
