Malia Elizabeth Nummerdor, 38, of Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte, Florida, was arrested by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office on September 15, 2026.

Case Details

  • The Allegations: Her estranged husband installed security cameras inside their residence—initially to investigate stolen money—and uncovered video footage showing Nummerdor partially nude and in positions consistent with sexual activity involving the family dog, Ranger.
  • The Investigation: Detectives launched an inquiry after learning of allegations and social media posts regarding the footage. Investigators subsequently reviewed the digital evidence provided from the indoor surveillance system.
  • Interview & Charges: During questioning, Nummerdor confirmed she was the individual in the footage alongside the family pet, but denied any sexual misconduct occurred, stating she was merely petting the animal. Investigators noted she appeared impaired and was unable to offer a consistent explanation before requesting legal counsel.
  • Current Status: She was booked into the Charlotte County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of Sexual Activity Involving Animals with bond set at $35,000.

According to Florida Statutes, the second-degree felony carries a penalty of up to 15 years in jail.

Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell released a statement condemning the alleged abuse and noting that all individuals named in law enforcement reports are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

“There are only a few times in my career that I have been at a loss for words,” said Sheriff Bill Prummel. “This is one of those times.”

“I simply cannot comprehend this behavior. No animal should ever be subjected to this kind of conduct, and you can be sure that we will take action when we learn about it here in Charlotte County,” he continued. “And then to smile in the mugshot? I don’t know what there is to smile about when you’ve been arrested for something as disgusting as this.”
