Pt12: Ft. Myers Mayor Anderson’s name removed from Foundation for Lee County Public Schools’ board of directors listing

By Bob Norman

Just last week, Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson’s name was listed first on the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools website’s Board of Directors page.

Today, his name is no longer there, as you can see here.

The Lighthouse hasn’t received any official word on the reason for the omission. Still, if Anderson has left the Foundation board, where he also served as a mentor for at-risk children, it will mark the fourth such board departure since allegations of sexual misconduct were first reported here on Sept. 9.

On Sept. 17, he resigned from the Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni Association board of directors; a day later he departed the Valerie’s House board, and last week he resigned from the United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties.

Anderson has vowed to remain on the city council. The next council meeting is tomorrow (Monday), beginning at 4:30 p.m. Numerous residents have informed the Lighthouse that they will attend to call for his resignation and demand an independent investigation into the allegations.
