The third Annual Black History Festival will take place Saturday, February 15th at Jackson Park (1130 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue) from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Join the community for a fun-filled, family-friendly day that will include performances, food, and craft vendors! City of Lakeland staff from the Parks & Recreation Department will be on hand giving away free plants while supplies last. DJ King will set the groove while individuals, dance groups and cheerleaders entertain the crowd during the event.
Natalie Gallon, Assistant Supervisor of Recreation and Event Organizer said, “This is a great event that brings the surrounding neighborhood and the community together for a fun, interactive day as we celebrate Black History Month. The event gets better and better each year and we invite the public to come and share the day at Jackson Park.” A variety of food options will be available including: hot dogs, smoked turkey legs, baked goods, candy apples, boiled peanuts, shaved ice, fruit cups and more. There will also be vendors selling clothing, jewelry, body oils/soap/lotion, art, handmade crocheted goods, local music and t-shirts.
