Beginning Tuesday night, May 11, 2021, a contractor for the City of Lakeland Wastewater Collection Division is scheduled to begin the first of three phases of work associated with the rehabilitation of a number of existing sewer lines in the downtown area.
The first phase of work is anticipated to take 5-7 working nights to complete (May 15-17). This work is also anticipated to be “no-dig” work, accessing the sewer through existing manholes. However, there will be lane closures and detours in place for the duration of the project, with each lane closure/detour set up to correspond with the specific segment of sewer line being worked on. Lane closures will start after 7 p.m. each night, and all lanes will be reopened by 6:00 a.m. each morning.
Once the first phase of work is complete, two following phases will also occur in order to complete the rehabilitation of these sewer mains. These phases will occur over the next few months with additional details provided as they become available.
In the attached map, please note that only one or two street segments will have active work going on at any given time.
