Meet Amaretto -

Another orange boy in distress rescued. On Friday, we received a frantic call from a construction crew flipping a house in central Lakeland. They’d discovered a week-old orange, male kitten in the backyard of the home. They said they’d been watching it for 5 days and hadn’t seen the mother cat. So they placed it a box in the backyard and contacted us to pick it up. Although the kitten was hungry, it didn’t appear to be dehydrated or lethargic so we think mom must have been coming around after the crew went home. Nevertheless, we took it back with us to the shelter and bathed him removing quite a few fleas and fed him several syringes of kitten formula before. He settled in in his heating pad.

The babe has been named Amaretto and he has developed quite an appetite and a good set of lungs. His eyes are completely open and ear flaps are unfolding so we think he’s about 10-12 days old. He is a real cutie. Updates to follow.
