That is a massive win for a local student! The talented artist is Noah Sisson, a 4th-grade student at Highlands Grove Elementary School right here in Lakeland.
Governor Ron DeSantis recently announced the winners at a reception at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee. Noah was one of only six elementary school students selected across the entire state of Florida.
Here are the details on his big achievement:
- The Winning Artwork: Titled “Palm Tree Promised Land”.
- The Theme: “Celebrating Florida’s Contributions to America,” designed to honor the upcoming 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
- The Prize: Noah was awarded a 2-year Florida College Plan scholarship courtesy of the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
The America250FL contest invited K-5 students to submit original art and 6-12 students to submit essays reflecting on Florida’s history, heritage, and unique impact on the United States.
It is an incredible honor for Noah and a wonderful highlight for the Highlands Grove community!
