These are living beings who cannot speak for themselves.
The legal system is built around accountability and supervision. Animal shelters are supposed to place animals in safe, permanent homes.
What safeguards are in place to ensure animal welfare—not administrative convenience—remains the primary consideration in these adoptions?
If a person is already in a monitored system, why move both the person and the animal into a situation with no oversight after adoption?
If the person is no longer being monitored and the animal is no longer being monitored, how does that better protect the animal?
How did exchanging a criminal penalty for a 10- to 20-year responsibility involving a defenseless animal become the solution?
Great idea! Gives one a reason to do good things, to look beyond things and love on a defenseless animal. Unlike society, animals love unconditionally! They don’t care what u have done!
